Diversity and relative abundance of Pseudomonas Species in drinking water: Implications for public health
Author(s): Bengani R
Abstract: In this research, the occurrence and relative abundance of Pseudomonas species within drinking water samples obtained from various slum pouches of Surat city of Gujarat were determined. Eight diverse Pseudomonas species were identified through 16S rRNA gene sequencing, among which Pseudomonas sp. (undetermined species) was the most dominant with a relative abundance of 48.07%. Environmental and opportunistic pathogenic species like Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas oryzihabitans were other species that were identified. The findings confirm the microbial diversity in the water samples and highlight the need for continuous monitoring for the achievement of public health protection.
